Wrought iron is a variation of iron that has been hand-worked and forged with a higher slag content. The iron is treated to produce a rough, silvery black finish. Wrought iron comes in the form of ingots, nuggets, and blocks.

Wrought iron is a component of lanterns, fences, chains, and other objects.

Wrought iron is produced alloying raw or refined iron with silica slag in a bloomery furnace. Ingots are thus produced smelting sand together with iron ingots or iron ore with a wood charcoal heat source.
