A possible route to reducing disk usage would be to remove replicates so long as per RG seqchksum metadata shows that its data is copied in different resource groups even though it may be combined with others in a library cram in one resource group and alone in plex/lanelet level file in the other.

  • Add seqchksum metadata to new single-RG files.
  • Add seqchksum metadata to new merged multi-RG files.
  • Backfill seqchksum metadata on historic single-RG files.
  • Backfill seqchksum metadata on historic merged multi-RG files.
  • Identify duplicated data using seqchksum metadata and remove while retaining redundancy across replicates.
