I've seen a handful of people getting interested in this project, mostly on Reddit. I apologize for any delays, I'm not the most consistent person in terms of communication. I've been working steadily on the software from which this project is being rewritten. The good news is that I'll be finishing this week on that, and will focusing on getting this project started officially.
Renaming to
electron-devkit
Previously, I had stuck with the name
@electron-development-kit/*
because I wanted something that stuck out from the others. However, not too much later I realized just how long of a name it was to type out. So moving forward, the new shorter name will simply be@electron-devkit/*
.Initial release
The first version of the
@electron-devit/window-manager
will be targetted for Electron v29.x, not only is this the current version of which I've been developing my software with, from a search on GitHub it also appears to still be a major version in use. The fastest path to getting this package up and running is to simply port over and rewrite what I have.Major release
Big changes came with Electron v30 in terms of window management and views. I've yet to work with this version, but I've been reading over the changes long before the first official release. Because of this, I'll have to take some time to experiment with this version.
Community help
I've had some questions about helping with the development of this library. I have to admit my collaborative experience is limited. I have a solid direction for this library based on the needs and wants I've developed from using Electron for a year now. My biggest pain point is testing. I've only used Playwright for testing, and I've not really used it extensively. If anyone would like to focus on the testing aspect, I'd love your help!
